Unclaimed Property

I went to a seminar put on by Stewart Title and learned a few interesting things that I will share in the next few days. I have never checked the unclaimed property for whatever reason. In the class the instructor reminded us that 1 in 4 Oregonians has something held by the state. And they have reduced the amount of time that items and monies have to be held by financial institutions.
The interest on these items gave the state about $500,000 in extra tax dollars.

I did a search here and found that there are two things being held for me. One is over $50 and the other is under $50. The instructor received $28. So go check. It might be worth it. The application requires a notary which many banks will help you out with for free.
